Outfit Ideas: Black girls wearing stripes street style

by Rae Ogbu//

Many said- “fashion gurus” have so many do’s and don’t about how and when to wear fashion stripes. If you follow us, you would know here at On ~Demand, we are all about wearing what you like when you like- all we do is give you the inspiration for different ways to style the look you choose.

This season, several trends continue to reign supreme: brights, denim and slogans but a stripe fashion number is a mainstay in our wardrobe season after season so it’s high time you conquer the fear of lines.

Stripes are one of the most wearable trends all year round and so you gotta stop letting the images of school uniform or sailing sailors get you.

We love our high street -street styles, however big labels have also played up to this trend from the go-to primary colours of red and blue highlighted in Altuzarra’s popular nautical-inspired off-the-shoulder dress which easily transitions from day to night to Proenza Schouler clever colour blocking striped knit dress.

For styling, you can opt for an entrancing super-sized stripe, whether vertical, horizontal or a mix-match of both. I particularly love how Ada from http://www.noordinaryshe.com works her lines.

Personally, I would mix thin and wide stripes to make one complete outfit or I can do vertical and horizontal stripes of same colour in another ensemble. If I’m feeling bold enough, I will mix stripes and florals or dark stripes with bright stripes.

Try a striped top with high-waisted denim for a killer date night look.
